November 11, 2016: Happy Veteran's Day

We had an assembly at school today to honor our Veterans.  The students made cards to send to Veterans in VA hospitals around the country.  We gathered in the gym and sang patriotic songs together.  I cried when we all sang the National Anthem.  After this heated political election, it was a much needed moment to be in a room with innocent kids singing about our country's beauty and freedom.  I've been really blessed to get to know so many people in the past year who serve in the Coast Guard.  I have seen the sacrifice that my friends, family, and students' parents go through in order to protect other people and serve our country.  I am grateful for that sacrifice!
