January 1, 2016: New Year in Kodiak

Fireworks during NYE are huge here.  Bigger than the 4th of July.  Mostly because it doesn't really get dark enough on the 4th to really enjoy fireworks.  So people go crazy on New Years Eve.  And the next day, and probably the rest of the week.

Tonight some of our friends got together and we all burned our Christmas trees in a bonfire at the beach.  with fireworks.  And little cheddar smokies.

Put it all together, and you get a picture of Alanna roasting her little smokies over the Christmas tree fire with fireworks in the background.  Magical.  Except I couldn't time it right enough to capture the firework in the background of the picture.  Use your imagination.
