February 6, 2019: Nonfiction animal books
We are working on writing nonfiction books about animals. Writing has been the most challenging subject to teach here. My students struggle with writing detailed sentences. One of my students is writing about birds. She was having a hard time thinking of distinguishing characteristics of birds. She could only think of "Birds have wings," so I drew this beautiful picture for her and asked her if this was a bird. She got the point and was able to add a few more details. I think she thinks Iḿ a little crazy too.
